** CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS **
Do you accept insurance?
Yes! You can find more information about insurance and fees here.
Do you offer in-person appointments?
At this time, I am only offering virtual appointments.
Do you have evening or weekend appointments?
My office hours are typically 10am to 4pm Monday through Thursday.
Do you work with children?
I am only accepting teenage and adult clients due to appointments being virtual. Virtual therapy is often more challenging for children.
Is virtual therapy effective?
Yes! Virtual therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy for many people. While there are some circumstances where in-person may be better, such as working with children or severe dissociation, most people find that virtual therapy works just as well. In fact, it resolves many scheduling barriers and can even help people feel more comfortable by doing therapy in their own space.
Is there anything important to know about virtual therapy?
As with any therapy, it is important to be in a safe and private space. Reliable internet and good audio are important, such as not having a lot of background noise or wearing headphones. If we disconnect, I will reach out via phone.
Do I have to be in Virginia if it's virtual?
Yes. The Virginia Board of Counseling requires that the client is presently in the state of Virginia during their session.
Why are sessions 50 minutes instead of 1 hour?
For simplicity of scheduling, all appointments start on the hour (or occasionally on the half-hour). This requires that I end the session with enough time to close everything up for one client and prepare for the next. Plus, we all need bathroom and snack breaks!
Can I do EMDR if it's virtual?
Yes, I use a HIPAA-compliant remote site for EMDR.
